You may not have permission to change an individual group chat's name!

Group chat names

Group chat names are assigned on the server and broadcast to all members. Operators of a group chat can change its name and have that change beamed out to all members. In addition, individual members can rename group chats privately, for their own personal use, and these names will not be sent to anyone else.

Renaming a group chat for everyone

1. As an operator, click Details in the upper right of the group chat window, click Settings, and click Rename:
   
2. An edit control will appear at the top of the group chat window. Type the new name and hit enter.

Renaming a group chat for yourself

1. Right click the group chat on your contact list and click Rename.
2. An edit control will appear on top of the group chat entry. Type the new name and hit enter.
